How we support neurodiverse youth, Spotlight Tower Hamlets

We believe in creating a space where every young person is celebrated, supported, and understood.

As part of Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2025, we’re highlighting how we support neurodiverse and SEND young people.

We’re now Communication Access UK Certified! One of the first youth spaces to achieve this, and we hope for many more in future. This means our youth workers, front-of-house team, and wider staff are trained to support diverse communication needs—so every young person is heard and understood.

Other ways we support neurodiversity:

Chat Spot

A speech and language therapy service in collaboration with Barts Health. Clare, our therapist, is here every Tuesday to support young people with unmet speech and language needs, including lesser known language needs like DLD (Developmental Language Disorder).
Need Speech and Language support?
Book a session with Clare at Chat Spot (Tuesdays) or email: sltconsultation.bartshealth@nhs.net.

The Den
A club where SEND young people can chill, make friends, and be creative in a welcoming space.

Have a 1-1 with a social prescriber!
Did you know we have a Social Prescriber at Spotlight? Join Emma K emmk@wearespotlight.com, to chat about supporting your goals, or join for guided crafting, drawing, bead making and mural wall art. To relax and unwind!

Neurodiversity makes our community better. Bringing creativity, unique talents, and a fresh perspective to the world.

At Spotlight, we strive for a space where everyone is valued, respected, and understood – because every young person matters.
