We’ve gathered together all the latest opportunities for young people out there to give you skills, enhance your CV and keep you busy:

New Opportunities for young people: 

The DLR are recruiting for Passenger Service Agents. The PSA role is an Apprenticeship position, to be successful in this position you will be required to study towards a formal qualification. The initial training course will consist of 12 weeks of training, followed by 1 week of shadowing an existing PSA. £42k starting salary. Deadline to apply 11th July. Apply here

Dimensions Training Solutions have qualified tutors who run structured sessions to assist learners in achieving accredited qualifications in a variety of subjects and topics. These sessions are run via online platforms, and they can support young people to get access to digital equipment if necessary. Must be 16-24, not in Education, Employment or Training. As part of the government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, if you are 19 or over and If you are 19 or over and do not already have a full level 3 qualification (equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma, or A levels) you can now access a whole range of free courses and qualifications in a range of subjects. If you’re aged 14 or over and are interested in media & content creation, we have the opportunity for you! Join other young people and The Reporters Academy for some FREE training from 30 June – 21 July. You’ll get to gain new skills, work with other people, increase your confidence and create some professional media content. Samsung Solve for Tomorrow: Next Gen is calling on the next generation of innovators, asking ‘how should we be using technology to make the world a better, more sustainable place?’. Through an exciting ‘plug and play’ ‘design thinking’ sprint session, young people aged 13-15 will get a fresh insight into creative tech careers, all while stretching their imagination and inspiring some truly great ideas. There is also an opportunity for young people to submit their ideas to the competition for chance to win some Samsung tech. Deadline is Thursday 9 September 2021. Find out more here

Are you age 16-25? Then join Skaped on Saturday the 17th of July for a 3-part creative workshop, where you can explore your relationships with yourself, your community, and the creative arts through ‘Artivism’ – a combination of art and activism. You will have the opportunity to learn about different artivist movements and draw inspiration from them for your own artwork produced in the session, which will be a creative exploration of community issues. Old Opportunities for young people still open for application:

The Skills Toolkit | Find a course | National Careers Service are offering you the chance to improve or learn new skills during this third and (hopefully) final lockdown! The National Careers Service has given access to FREE courses to help individuals to learn new skills, such as Practical Maths, Computer Essentials, Coding, and more.

The BFI Future Film Festival – Film Freeway is now open for submissions! Are you 16-25? Do you have a short film in any genre, 10 minutes or under in length. The film needs to have been produced in the last two years and be an interesting and original concept, with good production values and an entertaining subject matter. Selected films will screen at BFI Future Film Festival 2022 and have the chance to win one of our 10 BFI Future Film Festival awards, which include cash prizes, mentoring and kit. National Citizen Service (NCS) is an opportunity for young people aged 16-17 to take part in a 2-Week Summer programme. It is an opportunity to take part in activities and teamwork and start building new friendships, to learn life skills and take part in workshops to develop employability skills, independent living skills, and public speaking.
