New Opportunities for young people: 

 

Paines Plough is offering two new placement opportunities – a Marketing Trainee and a Trainee Producer. This is a great opportunity to develop a wide range of skills in a friendly, supportive environment. The placements will involve supporting our core team with our marketing and communications or producing activity. This scheme is designed for those aged 16*-24 who are currently claiming Universal Credit and may be at risk of long-term unemployment. Deadline: 10am, 19 March 2021

Future Me, Future Youth aims to amplify the voices and views of young people from east London to build a sense of hope and aspiration. Despite the devastating impact of the pandemic they have shaped a space for young people aged 14 – 25 to share their experiences, exchange ideas and connect with new people. The free event will include four discussions and four breakout rooms where we will have conversations around the important topics of education, employment, community involvement and self-resilience, all through the lens of a young person, and in a fun and informative way.  Deadline: Thursday 18th March. 

Newham Music is hiring an intern to work across their community programmes with a particular focus on Youth Voice and Inclusion. They would love to be able to offer this role to a local young person (under 25). Deadline: 14th March. More information available on their website.

Newark Youth are recruiting an Intern Engagement Officer.  If you are interested in working in the charity sector, have a passion for supporting young people to develop their potential, and have a talent for digital and face to face communications, this is the role for you. Deadline: 26th March 2021, 5pm. To apply or for further information see attached or please email info@newark.org.uk

UK Youth x Microsoft: UK Youth is working closely with Microsoft to offer free digital skills workshops to young people and youth workers. The workshops cover a range of topics, from CV skills to coding. They will be led, virtually, by the team at Microsoft Stores. Rich Mix are running New Creatives Taster Sessions! These will give you a taste of what our 9 month development programme Rich Mix New Creatives will be like starting April 2021! Targeting 16 – 18s who are NEET in Tower Hamlets, but is open more broadly up to 25 in East London, not NEET. Every Tuesday in March, 5pm – 6pm online and free, 4 sessions in total. Participants can join any individual session and/or multiple sessions. Old Opportunities for young people still open for application:

 

Why not improve or learn new skills during this third and hopefully final lockdown? The National Careers Service has given access to FREE courses to help individuals to learn new skills, such as Practical Maths, Computer Essentials, Coding, and more.

This survey is for young people aged 16-25 living in London. Run by Partnership for Young London, the survey looks at how young people living in London feel about issues including the pandemic, employment, housing and the media. There are over 50 prizes available, and winners will be announced in April. Complete the survey here.

Training and Jobs in Cloud Computing: Would you like 12 weeks FREE training in cloud computing and jobs afterwards? If you are aged 18-29 and NEET(Not currently in education, training, or stable employment), available for 12 weeks, and ready to start a full time job straight after the course, able to travel into central London each day,  and excited to launch a tech career then this is for you! TogetherintheUK have launched a Creative Writing Competition open to first and second generation migrants to the UK. They want to hear YOUR stories about migrating to the UK, it can be a poem or a short story/essay. They have fantastic prizes and some high-profile judges. Deadline: 30th April 2021

Apprentice roles – Careers (tfl.gov.uk) TFL are opening 10 apprenticeship schemes in roles across TfL including engineering, procurement and management. They are looking to hire around 45 apprentices to start in September 2021. Their level 4, 5 and 6 Apprenticeships are open now.

The Inverse Apprentice is a creative entrepreneurship programme provoked by the TV show ‘The Apprentice’. Our format, in contrast to the TV programme, is led entirely by the participants – Tower Hamlets residents.
